WHY PLANET PROSPECT
SEVEN WAYS TO GET RECRUITED
The recruiting process begins the moment you step into the classroom your freshman year. Most College coaches don’t recruit just athletes. They recruit student-athletes. Did you know that if you just meet the minimum NCAA academic standards, you will not be recruited by most college programs, regardless of your athletic ability? Most colleges offer partial scholarships and make up the difference with academic scholarship money. Bad grades will only limit the number of schools that will accept you academically, so it is very important to keep your grades up. Work hard on and off the field. Don’t limit your athletic recruiting options and miss out on a great school because you didn’t work hard in the classroom
If you’re a high school freshman reading this, you’re off the a great start. The earlier you get started, the better chance you have of being recruited by college coaches. Make sure your class schedule meets the NCAA’s requirements, and keep up with your grades to ensure that you meet standards for college entrance.
You never know what coaches will be interested in recruiting you and what scholarships are out there for you unless you set up an online sports recruiting profile and get noticed. Coaches are limited by NCAA rules from actively contacting students during most of the year, but a student or a student’s coach can reach out to a College Coach anytime. Be proactive and build relationships with Coaches early.
Your profile page has one job, and one job only: To get College Coaches to notice you and to contact you.
A well-designed online recruiting profile from PlanetProspect.com can greatly increase the chances of a College Coach to notice and contact you.
Rather than just sending an email with a link to a YouTube video, you can direct coaches to our specially-designed unique website with your very own recruiting profile that has all the information a College Coach needs to let them know you are a fit for their program.
When you contact a College Coach be sure to ask well thought out questions and show the coach that you are familiar with their program and very interested in their school. An interested athlete calls, emails, and sends letters directly to coaches. There are so many players on the recruiting radar of these schools, that along with your Planet Prospect website and profile, personal letters, emails and phone calls can really help you stand out. Planet Prospect is the most efficient avenue to get your name and information in front of coaches. If you are proactive, communicate regularly and keep your profile updated, you’d be surprised at the amount of interest you can receive from college coaches. Most College Coach email addresses can be found on the school’s athletic web page.
As a prospective student-athlete, you should also register with the NCAA Student Eligibility Center at the start of your junior year.
Even if you’re a senior that hasn’t been recruited yet, it’s never too late. If you want to play in College, get your film out to college coaches, and start sending emails and making those phone calls as soon as possible. The most important thing you can do to help your cause and be recruited is to be visible. Get your film out there, and initiate contact with college coaches as often as you can. Remember that College Coaches will follow your social media so keep it clean. Only a very small percentage of all high school athletes across all sports will ever play in College. If you really want it, then be one of the few. We would love to help you get to the next level!
